India Emerges As The Leader In The Global Rice Bran Oil Conference

Continuing the discussion on this heart-friendly oil, the Global Rice Bran Oil Conference was held in Mumbai on the 7th and 8th (Yesterday and today. The first one was held in China in May, 2014.) It talked about India’s position as the world leader in the production of the oil.
Renowned television chef Harpal Singh Sokhi launched his latest book, ‘Exotic Cooking With Rice Bran Oil by Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi’, and addressed the conference on how chefs can help establish rice bran oil as the health oil from India. Our country produces one million tonnes of rice bran oil, but this quantity gets consumed in the domestic market, particularly because of the restrictions on overseas sales. The government has now allowed bulk sale, much to the delight of the industry. India’s rice bran oil exports are expected to boost up to 10,000 this fiscal year from a mere 2,000 tonnes the last year. There is a huge demand for India’s rice bran oil from countries such as Thailand and Japan.
